ABOUT THE DESIGN
Q: Can my design have multiple sites?
A: No, you / your team should choose one building as the basis of your design.
Q: Can I or my team submit multiple entries?
A: No, individuals can only submit one entry, whether as an individual or part of a team.
Q: Do I need to specify the location of my design?
A: Yes, your submittal should clearly identify which building on Penn’s campus is the site for your design, as well as the specific façade or windows that would receive your window treatment.
Q: Can I change the building, façade or use items such as screens or shutters that can be affixed to the building?
A: No, this competition is limited to the design of films that can be applied to windows or glass facades.
Q: Do I have to comply with any regulations?
A: The only regulations are those required to meet the graphic design guidelines for window films for the prevention of bird strikes.
Q: Are there any limits to the size, shape, or content of my design?
A: No, all limitations are those required to meet the graphic design guidelines; however, you should consider your building choice as inspiration for determining your design (its architectural features, its current program / use, its location, its visibility, etc)
Q: What will the judges be looking for?
A: Compelling graphics and imagination regarding how well the design answers the brief for birds (compliance with 2x4 rule), for people (considering both the view from inside and outside the building) and with respect to the building itself (if the building is deemed significant architecturally and/ or historically).
